Derek Seguin

Derek Seguin

Derek SeguinDerek Seguin

Montreal-based Derek Seguin is one of the most sought after stand up comedians on the international circuit. He has performed at the prestigious invitation-only Just For Laughs festival an impressive six times. In 2013 he filmed a gala set for HBO at the festival where he received a standing-ovation at the city’s 3,500 seat Place des Arts. This led to an invitation to perform at this past year’s Nasty Show at JFL. GQ Magazine’s Comedy Editor reported that: “Montreal-comic Derek Seguin stole one of the most star-studded gala shows last year from host Whitney Cummings. At the 2014 Just for Laughs, he appeared in The Nasty Show (in which the stand-ups perform their most shocking and filthy material) and proceeded to steal that too. A true star and Montreal’s pride and joy.”

Derek’s other televised appearances include performances at the CBC Winnipeg and Halifax festivals, The Newfoundland Comedy Festival, the Grand Rire du Quebec’s Comedie Club series as well as the Just for Laughs Comedy Special, “Oh Canada!”. He has also appeared on CBC Radio’s, “The Debaters” more than twenty-five times and recorded two episodes of CBC television’s, “The Debaters”.

Undeniably one of Canada’s hottest comedians, he has been touring clubs and theatres across North America intensely for the past few years and his debut concert album “Newfie Octopus” is a bestseller on CD Baby and on iTunes.

Most recently, Derek walked away with the top prize at the 2015 Sirius XM’s Canada’s Top Comic competition; a contest that spanned the entire country with finalists from every major city. He ended up the winner of the title of Top Comic, the 15 000$ top prize, a guaranteed TV spot at the Just for Laughs Festival and his own one-man show at JFL42 in Toronto in 2016.

Whether he’s ragging on politics or describing life with his children, he brings us into his perspective without preaching any selfish point of view. His undeniable charm makes him simply fun to watch and listen to and is in large part why he is one of Canada’s most “in demand” comedians.

The quintessential performer, Derek is a stand-up comedian, actor, host, narrator, voice actor and most importantly, father of 3 beautiful children… and all this, in both English and French (especially the “papa” part).

A consummate professional, Derek is at home on stage in a comedy club, conference centre, theatre, arena, school or arts centre. He tailors his sets for all audiences and can work clean or filthy. There is no event that won’t be livened up by the addition of Derek’s natural charm, honed comedic genius and warm, witty banter.

Audiences love him. Bookers love him. You will too.

Daryl MakkDaryl Makk

Daryl Makk has been re-educating the sheeple of the world...one joke at a time since 1993! An extended tour in Australia in 2005 had him in sold out shows at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. Described by CBC radio as "A friendly good ‘ol boy, with knowledge and he’s not afraid to use it" he is a hit wherever he goes. Creator and host of the TV series After BIRTH Alley aired on V-TV a show that takes you inside comedy back to the conception and birth of a joke.

Using a combination of story telling mixed with set-up punchlines, James makes observations on everyday situations that we can all relate with, while politely pointing out some of the cultural contradictions that have become the status quo.

Phil Maynard

Phil MaynardPhil Maynard

Phil Maynard is a recovering curmudgeon, comedy rooms are his safe space and other people’s laughter is his medicine. Starting off his comedy career in Toronto and working backwards by moving to Vancouver, then Regina, and finishing off in the small city he now calls home here in the Okanagan, Phil is currently doing pretty okay at Stand Up in Kelowna. A mesh of witty one liners and high brow dick jokes have propelled Phil to second place finishes in countless comedy competitions (mostly in his house, against unknowing and unwilling competition such as his cats). He runs a monthly show called Comedy Cucaracha at Fernando’s Pub and hopes you continue to come out and support live comedy.
